A variety of customized excursions by city transit will be available to conference participants. Registered participants will receive an admission voucher for the American Museum of Natural History, that can be used throughout and beyond the meeting period.
Details of excursions, including nominal costs and contact information of excursion coordinators, will be provided on this page as details are available. These excursion options have been confirmed as of June 10, 2010.

Lab Equipment Demos
Bruker Nano (EDS detector), CAMECA (SX100 Microprobe), and GE-Phoenix (CT-scanner) will demonstrate state-of-the-art instruments and provide technical information and consultation to participants, using installed equipment at the AMNH.

Guided visit to NY geology as expressed in Central Park
Sid knows more about New York geology and history than anyone else I know. He tells GREAT stories about the City, as well. This trip begins in Hotel's Skyline Room with a short presentation, then walks in the south end of Central Park.

This is a guided visit to the analytical laboratories at the Metropolitan's Department of Scientific Research.

Art historian Pat Sand will lead visitors through chosen galleries and provide expert commentary and historical background. Ms. Sand is a highly knowledgeable guide who has years of experience in the Metropolitan Museum.

Group Dinner: The dinner will be held Wednesday evening, July 28, 6-11 pm, at the Jing Fong restaurant in New York’s Chinatown. Transport will be by public transit or taxi, at participant discretion (link to map PDF) .... (link to transportation web page) ....
NOTE: Subway fare is $2.25 regardless of distance. It is very easy to purchase a fare card for cash or credit.
Bus does NOT accept paper money! BUS ONLY accepts quarters (9 of them) or fare cards.
